Celebrate the arrival of fall and the harvest season by joining the 7th annual Oktoberfest Celebration in the quaint village of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, 2017. The family friendly weekend is stuffed full of food, drinks, activities, and entertainment. You’ll find a Beer Garden featuring seasonal food such as brats & dogs, baked pretzels, European cupcakes, and Harvest Beers as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Event proceeds will go towards developing and building a biking and walking pathway for all to enjoy in the beautiful town of Lava Hot Springs!
Friday, October 6th, the 2017 Oktoberfest Celebration commences with a Beer Tasting & Kickoff Party at the Riverside Hot Springs Inn and Portneuf Grille & Lounge on 255 East Portneuf Street from 5-7pm. Enjoy live entertainment while sampling five different types of Harvest beer and delicious hors d’oeuvres created by the Portneuf Grille Chefs. Cost is $15 per person.
Saturday, October 7th's festivities begin with a Fun Run, Walk or Ride, 5k or 10k or anything in between! It begins and ends at the Lava Community Building. The full 10k loop is scenic and oh, so beautiful! It was chosen to showcase the first section to be developed into a biking and walking pathway. Everyone is welcome and costumes are encouraged. So slip on your lederhosen, dirndl or Halloween costume and let’s see which character wins the prize for best costume. All entrants are entered into a raffle for a chance at winning fun prizes! Costumed entrants double their chances to win by getting an additional raffle entry. It doesn’t matter if you finish the race first or last because anybody can win a prize! This event begins at 9 a.m. Arrive early to register. Entry fee includes a T-shirt and is $25 for adults and $20 for those 17 and younger.
The celebration continues at the Lava Community Center from 11am to 8pm with Bavarian food, Harvest beers and non-alcoholic drinks, live music, artisan and vendor booths and a fire spinning show at dusk. At Noon, the kid's activities and games will open for children of all ages and continue until 2 p.m. From 1 to 5pm ride in the wagon pulled by a tractor. At 2pm, Pumpkin' Chunkin’ will be held at the park next to the Community Center. What’s more fun than catapulting a pumpkin and watching it rocket through the air until gravity takes hold if it? Instead of watching, try it yourself. $5 gets you 2 chances to try your skill and see if your pumpkin can beat everyone else’s. The crazy fun continues at 4pm with the Verruckt Hamsterrad aka “Crazy Hamster Ball Run.” Jump into the inflatable “Hamster Sphere” and get ready to roll! Ready, set... go crazy hamster fun! $5 for 2 rolls around the course. At 6pm, the River Duck Race begins—Lava's own version of the Royal Family horse race. The Duck Race Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. Prizes include lottery tickets and prizes from local business sponsors.
Stick around for Lava Lions Bingo beginning at 7pm with a Progressive Blackout Bingo prize! You must be 18 or older to play but everyone is welcome to attend. Bring your entire family out to the Lava Community Center for a fun filled evening. Delicious food and drink will be served all day!
Finally, at dusk, you won’t want to miss the fire spinning by Lava Flow Fire performers. This will be a spectacular show!
