Summer Season of Grit League. 8 Races in Idaho Falls, Idaho (June 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, and August 1, and 8) Cost $60.00 for Open Divisions $75.00 for Competitive Divisions *Cost includes 8 races, Grit League Shirt, opportunity to earn Grit Bands, and end of season awards. Times: 7:30 AM Competitive Sr. (7th-High School) 8:30 AM Competitive Jr. (3rd-6th Grade) 9:30 AM Open Sr. (4th-12th Grade recommended) 10:30 AM Open Jr. (K-3rd Grade Recommended) *Grades are based on what they will be going into for Fall 2018. For Open Divisions: No formal scores are kept, however, kids can keep track of their own scores. Kids will have 20 minutes to complete as many laps as they can and up to 10 minutes after that to complete their last lap. Completion of obstacles on the course is recommended but not mandatory. For Competitive Divisions: Formal scores are kept for laps completed and order of finish. Kids will have 25 minutes to complete as many laps as they can and up to 5 minutes after that to complete their last lap. Completion of obstacles (or associated penalties in the event of failure) on the course is mandatory. Final seasonal standings will be based on top 6 out of 8 scores. Courses will be approximately 400 yards long (could be as long as 800 yards), with 5-10 obstacles. Courses will be different in terrain, difficulty, obstacles, etc. each week. Detailed Schedule: June 13: Tautphas Park June 20: Freeman Park June 27: Sandy Downs July 11: Tautphas Park July 18: Freeman Park July 25: Sandy Downs Aug 1: Tautphas Park Aug 8: Freeman Park Obstacles include Walls, Monkey Bars (and monkey bar like obstacles), Cargo Nets, Crawls, Carries, etc. WE DO NOT USE DANGEROUS OBSTACLES. We do not use electrocution, sharp objects, swimming, or other dangerous obstacles. There is always some risk of injury involved with any sport, however, our goal is to provide an athletic challenge to the kids that requires functional movements, not to scare, injure or create an extreme experience. Kids of all abilities are welcome to participate. We are happy to make accomodations for any kids that have special needs to allow them to participate at a level their abilities will allow. For Open divisions, and especially Open Junior Divisions, parents are allowed to accompany the participants through the course, when needed. WE ALSO NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! All parents who volunteer to help with at least one of the following: setup; races; or takedown will receive a volunteer shirt and a code for a FREE SEASON for their child.
